Successfully passing the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) qualifies you to be evaluated in the next Instructor Examination (IE) and after passing this evaluation, you will be successful in becoming a fully qualified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

The IE is run over 2 days during which a PADI Asia Pacific appointed IE examiner tests candidates: teaching abilities, dive theory knowledge and dive skills, understanding of the PADI System, attitude and professionalism.

We schedule our IDCs to end just before the IE begins so that training is still fresh and our candidates are well prepared.

IE candidates must successfully complete the following segments:
• 5-part Dive Theory Exam.
• Knowledge Development Prescriptive Teaching Presentation.
• Demonstration quality five skill circuit.
• Confined Water teaching presentation.
• Rescue of an Unresponsive Diver at the surface to demonstration quality, using a pocket mask or mouth-to-mouth.
• Open Water teaching presentation with two assigned skills combined (skills can be from the Open Water, Advanced Open Water or Rescue Diver courses).

The scheduling of the IE may vary depending on location, logistics and number of candidates; the most likely timeframes are:
• Evening Orientation and exam(s) followed by two days of evaluating teaching presentations.
• Or Morning Orientation followed by all evaluation over remaining two days.

As a qualified OWSI you can teach a variety of PADI experience programs and courses: the Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue and Divemaster courses in addition to the Peak Performance Buoyancy, AWARE Coral Reef Conservation and Project AWARE Specialty courses.

Our IDC course does not cover the cost of the IE. This is paid direct to PADI Asia Pacific, please contact us for price information.

Please contact us for more information on how we can tailor a Professional Go PRO Internship for you to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, our five PADI Instructor Courses (IDC) courses are scheduled throughout the entire year and if you do not currently hold the required pre-requisite qualifications we can incorporate these into an internship package for you.
